Hey Friends of Thrive (www.ThrivePortOrange.com) ! The following verse from James got me thinking. It's from James 5:16
It's the "each other" part that got me. It used to be, under the old testament, people had to go to the priest for confession and forgiveness. Even in many modern churches, the priest or pastor serves as the main "go between" for the people and God. Yet this verse virtually eliminates that role. Rather than a priest, we have each other!
"...each other..." also tells me I can't be a lone ranger when it come to the things of faith. Sometimes it seems my Christianity would be so much easier to maintain if there were no other people around :-) Yet true Christianity is not about behavior management and being good. It's about how we love "...each other...".
My prayer for today: Lord, help us to see that our faith is played out in how we care for each other, not simply in what we believe. Today, may my faith incorporate the each other mindset and may my prayers for others rival my prayers for me & mine in intensity .
Amen
