Let it sink: 11-1-12

Good evening friends of Thrive!  I normally like to do my email in the morning, but today has been a hectic day!  I did do my reading though and this is the verse that stood out to me.  It's from
Eze 3:10 Then he added, "Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself."

Often when we come to church, it's easy for us to think -  "Oh, so & so really needs to hear this message." Yet the above verse in Ezekiel reminds us that before we go applying the message to everyone else in our lives, we need to 1st apply it to ourselves.  Beyond that, we need to let God's words sink deep down.  Let me ask you, how do you do that exactly?

I don't know about you, but for me, I need to meditate on concepts to really let them sink in.  I need to look at it from different angles - debate it in my mind, pray over it!  My hope is that every week, this is what we do with the messages- we listen for ourselves.

Just a reminder that this week we are talking about life giving words.  I am super excited about the message and can't wait to share it with you. I hope you will let it sink in deep!

My Prayer for today:  "Lord, I can't count the number of sermons I have listened to over the years, yet I have not always been diligent in letting them sink deep down into my heart.  This weekend, may we make a new commitment to meditate on the message & think it through."

Amen!

PS - don't forget that this weekend is when we set our clocks back!
