God's favorite- 11-23-12

Hello friends of Thrive!  I hope you had a good Thanksgiving!  Today's One Year Bible reading had the following verse that I liked.  It's from 1 Peter 1:

17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of Him during your time as "foreigners in the land."

My wife has a plaque on her desk that says, "God loves you, but I'm His favorite."  It's fun to think about, but of course God doesn't have favorites. However, the verse goes on to say that God does respond to your actions.  God doesn't have favorite people, but He has favorite actions!  Compassion, mercy, justice, love, service - these actions are always on God's top ten list.  If you want to be God's favorite, spend some time today doing what He loves! 

My Prayer for Today:  "Lord, I pray that today my top priority would be to do what you love the most-  your favorites.  May I be more compassionate, more patient and more like you today"
